A weaving house that refuses to hurry
MEEYAL began in 1962 as a single loom in Kanchipuram. Three generations later we work with 240 weaver families across Tamil Nadu and Varanasi, and every piece still leaves on the same terms — handloom, tested zari, finished by a person.

From yarn to your wardrobe
The yarn
Mulberry silk is degummed, dyed in small lots with fixed recipes, and sun-dried. Zari is tested for silver content before it comes near a loom.
Dressing the loom
Up to 9,000 warp threads are drawn through the heddles by hand. A single bridal warp takes two people the better part of a week.
The weave
Pit looms, throw shuttles, and the korvai interlock for contrast borders. Motifs are counted — no jacquard shortcuts on the signature pieces.
Finishing
We change only the finish: the fall is set, the blouse is cut to measurement, the churidhar is tailored. Then it is pressed, wrapped in muslin, and boxed.
